Poker Profiles: Tuan Lam

Tuan Lam is but one of the many Asian players who are making big names in the Poker scene. Yet he is as distinguished as each of them due to a constant great performance early on in his career.

Tuan was born on New Year's Day of 1966 in Vietnam. He moved to North America after the Vietnam War in search of an opportunity to support his family back home. Tuan landed in Ontario, Canada where he took on regular labor jobs. When he got an opportunity to go back to school, he did to earn a high school diploma and later set his eyes on putting himself through business school. Since he is short of school money, he looked for a job and stumbled upon dealing duties at a local card room. This was his formal introduction to Poker. Every time the games got short, he is to serve as a prop player, which honed his card skill in the process.

It was not too long afterwards that Tuan became a professional Poker player himself. He played online at PokerStars.com and specialized in short-handed games. Upon realizing that he can well support his family with his winnings, he decided to put all the stops so he can take all the Poker events he could handle. Tuan is a very good cash player. He may have little successes in terms of earning Poker accolades but his ability to cash-in with every game is another thing. After years of dealing with failure, Tuan is finally able to achieve his dreams of giving his wife and children a comfortable life. He is also able to send money back to Vietnam for his family. Thanks to Poker!

Tuan's most distinctive achievement so far is stealing the second best seat at the 2007 World Series of Poker main event. Yes, he was not able to bring home a bracelet during that tourney but $4,840,981 is more than enough amount to keep him happy. Add to that is the fact that outlasting over 6,000 players in the process is quite an achievement in itself.

Aside from frequenting Brantford Charity Casino in Brantford, Ontario, Tuan is also busy with PokerStars.com duties. He is currently a member of the Team PokerStars Pro. He is also not stopping anytime soon on his search to quench his thirst for a WSOP bracelet. He will surely continue to play for the tournament and for other high stakes games as well. How long his Poker career will survive tough competition depends on how well he will perform in the coming games.
